Integration

Specs and decks live in Drive. Cognia makes them queryable.

Engineering specs, customer decks, post-mortems, financial models. Drive holds the long-form. Cognia gives them the same Q&A interface as Slack and GitHub.

What gets captured

Google Docs (text, headings, comments)
Google Slides (slide text and speaker notes)
Google Sheets (cell text, sheet titles, named ranges)
PDFs (extracted text, layout-aware where possible)

Setup

  1. 1

    Open Admin → Integrations

    Find Google Drive.

  2. 2

    OAuth with the right scope

We request drive.readonly. You can scope it to specific folders post-install if you don't want full-drive access.

  3. 3

    Pick a starting folder

The first index covers everything in scope. For most teams, scoping to a 'Engineering' shared folder is the right starting point.

  4. 4

    Test the answers

Ask 'where's the data residency one-pager?' or 'what's our latest pricing model?'. Answers come back with the document and the cited section.

FAQ

Does Cognia respect Drive sharing permissions?
Yes. We index documents the connecting user has access to. If a doc is restricted, it's not indexed.
What about shared drives vs My Drive?
Both are supported. Shared drives are usually the better target since they outlive any one user.
Are scanned PDFs supported?
OCR is best-effort. Native digital PDFs work well; scanned ones are hit-or-miss.
